Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How much does a Web site cost?
A.
The price is dependent on how many pages you want for your web site. A single page costs as little as $125.00,
a package deal of 4 pages (considered a small web site) or 6-8 pages (a medium web site) are at discounted
prices, see the prices page for more details, add to
this, the cost of your web address, known as the Domain Name ($24 for two years) & Web Hosting
($54 for 12 months) and you have yourself a small website for under $500. That's much less than newspaper
advertising or radio advertising and that is all you need pay for 12 months if you wish

Q. What is a "Domain Name" and where do I buy one?
A.
The need for a web address is first priority towards getting your business an online presence.
A web address, also known as a "Domain Name" is what potential customer's type in a browser to get to your web site.
All web sites need to have a web address, without which they would not be found on the internet.
To register your web address "Domain Name" I always recommend
"Crazy Domains"
They are in my opinion, the cheapest and the best. You click on the link to Crazy Domains and enter
your well thought out web address and buy right there on line, if you don't want to purchase the Domain Name
on line yourself, I can purchase it on your behalf as part of my service to you, and tack the Crazy Domains fee onto
my invoice.

Q. What is "Web Hosting" and where do I get it?
A.
Once your website is completed and ready to go live, it is uploaded via FTP (File Transfer Protocol) to the
Web "Server" (a computer which is permanently connected to the Internet) and without getting too technical, it is
a place to store your website, (the storing of your web site is called "Hosting") a hosted web site is ready for
viewing 24/7. Anyone wishing to view your site, only need type your web address into their browser, and the Web Server
("Crazy Domains") sends your web site to their computer for browsing. Again I recommend
"Crazy Domains"

suggest the package that meets your needs best and I can purchase the hosting on your behalf as part of my
service to you, and tack the Crazy Domains fee onto my invoice.

Q. How long does it take?
A.Generally it takes less than 24 hours for your Domain Name to become registered, the hosting too if you
purchased the hosting at the same time as the web address. There is no set time, on building a web site, if I am
supplied with all the information and photo's required for the site promptly, and we have decided on colours and layouts
I can build your web site and have it, implemented on the Internet in less than a week, If you have lots of photo's and
lots of content, then it will take a little longer, I can work to deadlines if you have a rushed job, just contact me and
we can discuss your time frame needs.

| |
Q. Do photo's need to be a certain size?
A.Preferably the largest size you have is best; I like to format the photos so that they are of
equal sizes, and the highest quality. The photos have to be your property or you need to have the owner of
the photo's permission to use them on your site. Check out Legal Stuff
about copyright laws. If you don't have any photos to display on your site, talk to me about suppling photo's.
The same applies for any information you have on your web site, it must be your own or written
especially for the web site. I am happy to organise your images and content for your site if needed.

Q. Who will maintain the web site?
A.The best person to do this task is the web designer, this is the job I do best when not designing or building
web sites, I consider it smart to have the person who designed
the site to maintain the site, and for a minimal fee. I can update your site on a regular basis, or on a need to basis
whatever suits your needs better. Maintaining a site can take the web designer as little as 15 minutes, to add, remove &
update content with new, whereas a person that is not skilled at coding a website can take hours and end up with
a malfunctioning web site.

| |
Q. Can I sell products on line?
A.Yes, I can set up a ecommerce site for you, these web sites take longer to build and configure, therefore a site with
a shopping cart, is more expensive, it will cost you per page as stated on the prices
page, plus the time it takes to configure the shopping cart
it is recommenced that you have a PayPal account to accept payments on your site, to set up PayPal just go to the PayPal site,
click here it is quite simple to set up and will take a few
days to be approved.

Q. How is my site found on Google?
A.There is information written into the code of your web site that helps to get your site listed on Google,
Having good content and links to other web sites also helps, when your site is uploaded and configured, it is then
submitted to a number of search engines, this is all part of my service and doesn't incur another fee. Please note that
it can take up to 2-6 weeks to get listed and even then there is no guarantee that your site will appear in the top
results for the given search. Having said that all of my clients to date, have first page listing in Google. This is due
to my SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) skills that I have developed with time.

Q. How do I get visitors to my site?
A.Your web site is not like "Field of Dreams" (if you build it they will come) you have to spread the word,
you have to publicise your web site. I recommend that I arrange for new business cards which include your new web
address, I could have these ready to coincide with your web site launch, and also you should include your web address in
all your emails, newspaper advertisements, in your local directories and the yellow pages. Spread the word, you will be
surprised at how many people will want to have a look at your new web site. When I build a new site I always have my
family and friends visit the site, I take pride in all the web sites I build, I always put in a lot of time and effort.
